Legacy Scholarships

The Edgar H. Twine Scholarship Award
This multi-year award is given in honor of Edgar Hugh Twine. Attorney Twine was committed to supporting higher education and personal development of young people, in particularly African Americans. Edgar graduated first in his class from the University of Illinois College of Law, served his country as a Captain in the US Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps and was a Sloan Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, receiving a Masters in the Science of Management. Upon moving his family to the Los Angeles area, Edgar became active in numerous bar associations and a trailblazer in the world of corporate law and public service. He demonstrated that through intelligence, perseverance and hard work, minorities can excel in their endeavors. After his passing in 2005, his wife Lillian, and children Debbye and Edgar Jr., continued to demonstrate his passion to promote higher education and community service. Thus, the Edgar H. Twine Scholarship was born.
