Joshua Brown

joshuabrownMy name is Joshua Brown. I am 18 years old. I am currently a senior at Crenshaw High School. I am Associated Student Body Vice-President, I also run track and play football. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. I am the son of Carolyn Scot and Frederick Brown. I was born and raised in Los Angeles. At age three, I was taken from my mother because of abuse and my father was in and out of jail. On December 23, 1999 the Department of Children & Family Services asked me if I had someone that would take me in, I told the people my grandmother. They called my grandmother and she took me in. I was with her until she passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2012. I am currently still in the “system.” Through everything I have been through my grandmother always told me to be respectful to adults and always be independent – do not depend on anyone. If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be the young man I am today. After I graduate from high school I plan to either attend Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA or Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ, where I want to receive my degree in Communications. With my degree I plan on pursing a career in sports media.
